There are many ways for individuals, churches and businesses to partner with Somebody Cares Malawi.
Visionledd and WOW in the USA and Canada as well as our church partners in both nations send short-term mission teams to Malawi. Each team will be serving and learning alongside our staff and volunteers who are on the frontlines of the battle against HIV/AIDS and who are working for community transformation. Teams serve in a variety of ways including:
- Assisting Home-Based Care Volunteers visiting the sick, widows and orphans
- Ministry to Orphans and Vulnerable Children
- Community Healthcare Ministries
- Lots of other opportunities as well!
Team members also focus on learning from Christians in Africa. Often short-term team members tell us how much they have learned from being with us as we build relationships, worship and serve together.

Every year there are a variety of projects that make a difference in the lives literally thousands of orphans and vulnerable children, widows and communities infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Some of these projects include:
- Bibles for Malawi
- WOW Children’s Christmas
- Blankets for Malawi
- Mosquito net distribution
- Supporting Pastors and Youth Leaders Conferences
Projects vary from year-to-year, and new projects are developed on a regular basis. If you would like to participate in a project, send an email by clicking HERE.
Community Sponsorships and Partnerships
WOW Sponsorship – WOW (Women for Orphans and Widows) Sponsorships enable you to reach out to widows and their children by providing food, housing, education and income generating activities to sustain life. WOW Community Sponsors make a commitment to financially support a community on a monthly basis. The WOW Community Sponsorship program is ideal for individuals, families, and small groups.
Home-Based Care Sponsorship – Home-Based Care (HBC) workers are volunteers from local churches in their communities. These volunteers visit the sick, dying, elderly, widowed and orphaned in their neighborhoods every week. Home-Based Care workers are often the last person someone sees before they die, the first person a child meets after losing their parents, or the first safe person they can trust after they have been sexually assaulted. HBC Sponsorship provides food, medicine and support to these volunteers and their patients. HBC Sponsors make a regular financial commitment to support a HBC worker. The Home-Based Care Sponsorship program is ideal for individuals, families, and small groups.
Community Partnerships – North American churches who wish to engage in Africa for a minimum of three to five years have the opportunity to partner with churches and communities served by Somebody Cares. Partnerships enable a North American to work together with Somebody Cares in a particular community to care for orphans and vulnerable children, widows, and those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The long-term goal of a community partnership is to eradicate HIV/AIDS and see the community transformed by the grace of God.
